It felt like the cracks that had formed between them had softened, filling in like rain-soaked soil.

Instead of using words to try and understand each other, showing their feelings through actions brought them much closer.

“Jinya… thank you.”

Zero murmured.

“You protected Enwu.”

He placed the phone face down on his stomach.

To Zero, Enwu was probably like another family. And Zero was a man who carried the weight of family with him, living on even if it caused him pain.

It was because the group was created by such a man that Kagura felt it was worth protecting.

“It’s because you trusted me, Zero.”

He wasn’t a blood relative of Zero, nor a member of Enwu.

To Zero, Kagura Jinya was someone entirely different, raised in the same country and era but worlds apart. They shouldn’t have become this deeply intertwined.

To place complete trust in such a person was an incredibly difficult thing to do.

Not to mention that Zero had misunderstood, thinking Kagura had given himself to Kiriyama―――recalling that, Kagura felt a surge of irritation and glared at Zero from the corner of his eye.

“So, can we call off the ‘It’s already too late’ line?”

Zero reached out, unbuttoned Kagura’s shirt collar, and exposed the right side of his neck.

Only a faint scratch remained there.

“You’re the one who put a mark here in the first place.”

When Kagura complained, Zero’s nose scrunched in irritation.

“How many times did you do it with him?”

The question came in a low, menacing voice, to which Kagura replied teasingly.

“What’s this? Are you getting adorably jealous?”

At that, Zero let out a low growl and grabbed Kagura’s neck, pulling him in close.

With such force that Kagura thought his neck might snap, he found himself pressed down by Zero.

“Ow…nn…”

Zero’s hot tongue invaded his mouth, exploring every corner. An intense shiver surged through Kagura’s body, spreading and lingering.

A faintly bitter scent rose from Zero.

As he pulled his tongue back, grazing the inside of Kagura’s upper lip, Zero, still gripping Kagura’s neck, declared firmly: “I’m not taking it back. It’s too late.”

“...”

Was he saying that things were over between them?

Zero savoured Kagura’s moment of speechlessness before continuing.

“No matter how many others you’re with, you’re mine. Don’t think you can leave me now.”

Kagura stared at Zero’s face, almost as if trying to bore a hole into it. He then suddenly twisted his expression and punched Zero hard on the shoulder.

“Stop saying things that can be taken the wrong way.”

Zero chuckled in his throat, then tightened his grip on Kagura’s neck.

“Hey, Jinya. Don’t underestimate me.”

An intensity close to murderous intent seeped from Zero, crawling over Kagura’s skin, squeezing him tightly.

This, perhaps, was what it meant to be claimed by someone as boundless as Zero.

Kagura narrowed his shining eyes.

A chill and excitement were welling up at the same time.

"Ah, I'll remember that well," he whispered and stuck out his tongue, and the beast below claimed his mouth.

"S-Stop... it..."

He grabbed the man's head with both hands and forcibly pushed him away from his chest.

The skin on his left chest was widely discoloured red.

It was the result of him firmly telling Zero not to leave kiss marks where his shirt couldn't hide them.

"Are you showing your chest to everyone?"

"That's not what I'm talking about."

A scuffle ensued between Zero trying to suck on his chest again and Kagura trying to stop him. But in this situation, Kagura was at a disadvantage.

Zero firmly grasped Kagura's bent legs and thrust his hips greatly. His internal organs, stretched into the man's shape, were horribly distorted.

"Ugh... Aah, u-... Huu."

His lower body from the waist down was seized by the hot numbness.

"Are you going to cum again?"

Zero asked in a low, pleasured voice.

Even though he had already climaxed once, Kagura's dick was still swollen, with warm liquid clinging to the glans.

"Ah... Ah... Uu..."

With each thrust, a voice escaped his throat that he couldn't hold back.

"You don't have the traces of being fucked by other guys."

Confirming with his own dick that there were no traces of Kiriyama, Zero had a strangely pleased expression.

Somehow, Kagura felt like he was being treated as ‘my woman’ as if Zero were the only man who could have him, and Kagura felt an unpleasant sense of unease.

"―――It's not... like that's... necessary."

"What, if it’s necessary, will you fuck with Kiriyama too?"

At those words, his inner walls tensed up in revulsion.

"Don't say such disgusting things," Kagura spat out, and Zero had a triumphant look on his face.

"It's not disgusting with me, is it?"

Kagura locked Zero's head with both hands to prevent him from putting more kiss marks on his chest. He thought he had prevented it, but Zero looked up at him with a hooked gaze. At the same time, he stuck out his large tongue.

The tip of the tongue touched his nipple.

"Haa..."

Like a beast drinking water, the thick tongue moved hurriedly. Feeling the unpleasant sensation of being licked, Kagura furrowed his brows and arched his back.

The offered bud sank into the man's mouth.

"Ah, a-!"

As the bud was sucked on violently and Zero’s teeth were set in, the core of Kagura’s body converged. His inner walls clenched and trembled around the man.

"Uuu"

His whole body twitched and quivered.

Along with the intense pleasure, a pain as if his nipple was being bitten off shot through his head.

Like a wild animal pouncing on its prey to claim it as its own, Zero pressed his nose into the thicket and growled ferociously.

His hips undulated with tremendous force, ravaging Kagura's insides with his dick.

Amid the sense of urgency as if their lives were in danger, they were both drenched in the sticky fluids they released.

He woke up.

The light that streamed into the room was still too pale to be called morning sun.

The light was just right for gazing at the face of the man sleeping beside him.

Whether he had only been pretending to sleep or had just woken up, barely a minute after Kagura began watching him, those black eyes opened.

“We greeted the morning together, huh?”

Zero spoke in a sleepy voice.

“…Not so bad.”

Though it felt a bit strange, Kagura could accept this kind of morning. Despite the dull ache in his body, his head and heart felt remarkably clear. Propping himself on his elbow to face Zero, he said something he hadn’t managed to bring up the night before.

It was about how Kiriyama had used them to purge the upper ranks of the prosecution from a rival faction.

Apparently, Zero found it quite stimulating, as his dark gaze sharpened quickly.

“―――So, we were played by Kiriyama, weren’t we?”

Zero muttered, looking grim.

“Yeah. And Toono escaped right under our noses.”

Even though they managed to deal some damage to the Eastern Alliance, it wasn’t enough to mean anything.

It was like landing a punch only to hit smoke―――a complete letdown.

“Toono and the Eastern Alliance have to be taken down.”

“We’ll need to keep tabs on Kiriyama too.”

They met each other’s eyes and nodded in agreement.

Kagura felt a quiet laugh stir in his chest.

It was a pretty grim conversation to be having in bed, especially after having sex and waking up together. But for the two of them, this was only natural. It was how they felt connected.

He sat up and stretched.

He’d go home to get ready, then head to the office, where he’d once again be consumed by work.

As he reached down to pick up his shirt from the floor, his eyes drifted to his chest.

His left side was scattered with reddish marks that covered nearly to his chest, and his left nipple was swollen and inflamed.

―――Before these fade, I want to see him again.

He acknowledged the thought that rose within him.

Standing up from the bed, he cast a downward look at Zero and declared,

“Too late for you now.”

Hello! This is Fuyuko Sano.

This work combines the story ‘The Beasts Intertwine This Way’, published in the ‘Novel Dear+’, with a new story, ‘The Beasts Devour This Way’. Plus, since the short story ‘Zero’s Scent’ (originally a limited special SS distributed through the magazine’s applicant-only service) could also be included with some adjustments, we added that in as well.

It’s a straightforward, bold uke! With a strong-willed uke, you can feel assured since he’s sturdy both physically and mentally. It’s such a thrill when this uke, thinking “I’m a man, I can handle this” and getting overly confident, ends up getting thoroughly ensnared by the seme. 

And Kagura and Zero embody my favourite dynamic where the seme, who’s capable of taking the lead even over a strong-willed uke, also finds himself unexpectedly falling deeper. 

In the newly written parts, Kiriyama appears as an even stronger foe than Toono―――and is undoubtedly an incredibly twisted pervert.

Writing the little otter character has been a soothing experience for me.

Incidentally, this time the hidden theme was, unsurprisingly, ‘purely bold uke’ just like the main theme. It’s been a while since I’ve delved into such a bold uke, so I was really eager to jump in.

In my debut work, the Shanghai Mafia series, I wrote about unregistered children in China, so there’s a certain familiarity and nostalgia in how the core of this story relates to that.

I’m incredibly grateful to Oyamada Ami-sensei for her illustrations, bringing this bold × bold pairing to life like a dream! I was giddy writing, thinking, “This’ll be strong and bold because it’s Oyamada-sensei,” but her incredible illustrations went beyond what I imagined. Both the cover and the magazine colour illustration (included as a frontispiece) felt like the perfect movie package, and I found myself just staring and daydreaming about these two―――time just slipped away! (laughs)

I’d also like to thank my editor for respecting my style and preferences, allowing me to work smoothly, and the designer, the editorial team, the publisher, and everyone involved in this work.

Lastly, to everyone who picked up this book, thank you so much. While it does veer into some darker tastes here and there, I hope you’ll enjoy that aspect too.

Actually, this story, ‘The Beasts Intertwine This way/, will have an SS in next year’s ‘Novel Dear+ Spring Issue’, and a sequel is planned for the following year’s magazine issue!
