"But I know what you're thinking, Aniki."

The lack of further argument was essentially an affirmation.

Kairi's cool features, the blackness of his eyes and hair, gave an impression of purity. But perhaps he was far more lewd than Tasuku imagined.

If that were the case, it would be a delightful miscalculation. 

Tasuku hoped Kairi desired him just as intensely as he did his brother. Being of the same blood, they could achieve a perfect unification of mind and body, more so than any other lovers.

Shifting off Kairi, Tasuku rolled onto his back and confessed.

"I've had insomnia for a while. I kept getting unstable, so I really wanted to escape with drugs. I researched about them a lot. But I knew if I actually did them, I'd lose you for sure. So I somehow managed to resist."

"...I see. I didn't notice anything. I thought you were stronger-willed than me, and had an easy time sleeping."

"The bravado and feigning sleep were just an act."

Tasuku answered in a boastful tone, causing Kairi's throat to tremble. It was a sound that was both a laugh and the suppression of tears.

A warm sensation came to his palm. Tasuku squeezed back the hand that gripped his.

"Even though you and I were raised together, we've lived seeing very different things."

That may be true. 

While seeing different things, they had built this private ‘home’ belonging exclusively to the two of them together.

"Hey, Tasuku."

"Hm?"

Turning to Kairi, his strikingly dark eyes were looking up at the window.

"Have you ever felt 'kept alive'?"

Tasuku also directed his pale eyes towards the window.

The dull-coloured sky seemed to seal off this space in a square frame.

"...Kept alive, huh. I think I felt that way whenever you shielded me from ‘that woman’ hitting me. I was frustrated, sad, but also deeply grateful."

Those two sentiments had always nestled closely in his heart.

He thought they had accumulated and coalesced into his feelings for Kairi.

The bed faintly trembled.

Kairi propped himself on his elbow, sitting up slightly.

Then he quietly lowered his face to Tasuku's.

Their lips, sharing the same shape, overlapped and seeped into each other.

Melting into the languid comfort, Tasuku let out a single sigh. Kairi's voice gently dissolved into that sigh.

"I love you, Tasuku."

His chest ached intensely. Even though it was joyful, Tasuku gasped at the violent pain of it - was this how it felt to be afflicted this way? Kairi lowered his lips to Tasuku's suffering mouth once more.

The black eyes with a faint smile filled his vision.

And the world was imbued with a blissful darkness.

*Translator’s Note: OMG. What a perfect end to a chapter. They succumbed themselves deeper into the sin and darkness but they were at peace with it. I love this so much. That deep pain of a forbidden love. God, I love it! But hold your horses, guys… Not quite the end yet. There’s a side story coming up next. -K
