Kiriyama grabbed him by the nape and pulled him upright from the stool.

“Put your hands up.”

Without resistance, Kagura placed his hands on the window through the curtain.

Kiriyama licked the rim of Kagura’s ear, sliding a thin tongue into the canal. The wet sounds reverberated in Kagura’s head.

Kiriyama sucked on his neck while lifting the hem of his T-shirt, revealing the mottled discoloration of burns on his back. Kiriyama’s tongue trailed across the marks, gradually descending.

Kiriyama pulled Kagura’s sweatpants and underwear down to his knees, knelt on the floor, and spread Kagura’s legs to shoulder width.

His tongue moved from Kagura’s tailbone to his rear, slipping into the crevice.

He prodded at the folds, then pushed a narrowed tongue inside.

All the while, Kagura felt the cold, hard object deep within his stomach.

Kiriyama’s fingers grazed Kagura’s limp dick.

There was no physiological response. No arousal, no disgust—just indifference.

"You’ve always been a bit cold, but not as bone-dry as a desert."

Aizawa’s words surfaced in Kagura’s memory.

When he severed ties with Zero, he must have discarded the soft, tender parts of himself as well.

He imagined the scene vividly: a folding knife in his hand, the blade flicking out with a single motion and plunging into Kiriyama’s neck. He could picture the visceral sensation in detail.

Kagura observed himself.

Not a ripple of emotion stirred.

If the current him decided to act, it would be purely a question of necessity or lack thereof.

As he simulated this scenario, an idea suddenly struck him.

―――So that’s an option.

If he managed to eliminate Toono Ryouji and somehow survive—a miracle, to be sure—he would personally deal with Kiriyama Shungo. Not through passive means like letting him die, but as a deliberate act of his own will. If he threw himself at Kiriyama like this, it might create an opening.

That said, Kiriyama had outmaneuvered and exploited him countless times before. There was no chance things would go as calculated, and executing such a plan would inevitably lead to Kagura’s own demise.

...As he traced this dark path in his mind, the haze of doubt dissipated, and his purpose became starkly clear.

He would accomplish what was realistically within his reach, distancing Zero from danger as a result.

And once Kagura Jinya had destroyed himself, Zero, free from his shackles, would lead Enwu and continue his fight.

A faint, thin smile spread across Kagura’s lips.

Kiriyama’s tongue dug deeper, carving into his insides with sticky determination.

The cold hardness seeped through Kagura’s body, consuming his mind and soul.

When he closed his eyes, a memory of the desert at night rose before him.

Standing in the dry, cold shadows of the sand, he had felt Zero’s presence beside him...

Later, they moved from the living room to the bedroom. Kiriyama spent about an hour licking Kagura’s unresponsive body, which neither resisted nor reacted. As usual, Kiriyama avoided Kagura’s genitals. It seemed he derived satisfaction from the act of licking as a form of harassment rather than any intent to give pleasure.

Kiriyama also never demanded any service from Kagura.

He had, however, made Renjou perform oral sex, likely because he relished the sight of Renjou—a prized possession—seething with hatred.

As Kiriyama finally withdrew from above him, Kagura lay sprawled naked on the bed and asked, “What’s your real goal in pulling me away from Zero?”

The question had lingered as a vague unease in his mind.

“I have reasons to work with the Special Investigations Chief, but what benefit do you get from working with a mere detective?”

His relationship with Zero had been one of give-and-take, their interests perfectly aligned.

But with Kiriyama, it was a one-sided flow of information.

Sitting up, his body slick with Kiriyama’s saliva, Kagura pulled a cigarette from the bedside case. He lit it, inhaling deeply, letting Kiriyama’s scent be driven away. While other senses could be blocked, smell seemed to have a direct link to his emotions, leaving him unsettled.

As Kiriyama’s scent faded, Zero’s fragrance rose unbidden from memory, lingering in Kagura’s nostrils.

“Because choosing me is the right thing to do,” Kiriyama replied.

“If I weren’t partnered with Zero, you wouldn’t have pushed me to make that choice, would you?”

Straightening his loosened tie, Kiriyama glanced at him out of the corner of his eye.

Only his jet-black, abyss-like eyes, swallowing all, stirred the slightest movement in Kagura’s heart.

Why is this man so insistent on keeping him by his side? What meaning is there in licking over someone like Kagura Jinya, who no longer struggles or entertains him as he once did?

That persistent sense of discomfort he had felt about Kiriyama.

He tried to see through to the reasoning that must be running behind his actions.

“...Could it be that your true objective is—”

Just as he tries to verbalize the thought that flashes through his mind, the cigarette in his mouth is snatched away.

Kiriyama's lips touch Kagura’s for five seconds before he returns the cigarette and leaves the bedroom.

Kagura hears the sound of the front door opening and closing, signaling that Kiriyama won't be coming back.

Still deep in thought, Kagura heads to the bathroom. Realizing he still had the cigarette in his mouth as he let the shower pour over his head, he dropped it onto the floor.

The chime of the intercom rings out.

At this hour, it could only be Sanae—but the faint hope flickers in my chest. Twice in the past three months, the intercom has rung in the dead of night, and Zero's image appeared on the screen.

After leaving the keys to the Nakameguro apartment behind, he blocked all contact from Zero. Though it was a unilateral breakup, he knew that what he felt, Zero must have felt the same.

They couldn’t afford to lose sight of their goals by holding each other ensnared.

If separation meant moving forward, then it was the only choice to make.

Lightly toweling off his damp body, he stepped out of the bathroom.

He steeled himself as he checked the intercom screen embedded in the wall.

The person displayed isn't Sanae, nor is it Zero.

It's a man with narrow eyes, giving a faint, uncertain smile.

A man in his thirties who seems the type to slip from people’s memory. Kagura had seen him drive Kiriyama’s car on several occasions. He looks like an ordinary chauffeur, but Kagura recalls noticing a lawyer’s sunflower badge on his suit collar once before.

Kiriyama refers to this man as ‘Itou’.

Pressing the intercom button, Kagura tells him, “Wait a moment.” Then he threw on a T-shirt and sweatpants over his still-damp skin.

When he opens the door, Itou greets him with a hesitant bow.

“It seems Kiriyama-sama forgot his jacket here,” he says.

“Ah, right,” Kagura replied.

Returning to the living room, Kagura finds Kiriyama’s jacket hanging on a hook on the wall. Taking it to the entryway, he hands it to Itou, making a casual comment.

“Doesn’t seem like him.”

All he meant was that it was uncharacteristic of Kiriyama to forget something like this.

“Please don’t misunderstand.”

Itou speaks with a faint smile, barely moving his lips.

“Shungo-sama has no interest in you.”

The door closes silently, leaving Itou nowhere in sight.

Kagura blinks and lets his gaze wander through the empty space.

“...Shungo-sama, huh?”

Calling him by his first name—it must reflect the true nature of Kiriyama and Itou's relationship.

Thinking back, whenever they went to the ‘Invincible Castle’, it was always Itou driving Kiriyama’s car.

Kiriyama’s public face as the head of the Tokyo District Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit, and his hidden identity as a ‘Non-citizen’.

Running things behind the scenes must require capable hands and feet.

...If Itou is one of those working in the shadows, does that mean he knows Zero’s secrets as well?

If that’s the case, Kagura will have to erase not only Kiriyama but Itou too.

*Translator’s Note: I don’t really know if Kiriyama is interested in Kagura or not, but I’m certain he wouldn’t care if he dies. Anyway, I will know once I finish reading the last volume, I guess. -K

Using the key with the sasadango keychain, Kagura unlocked the door to that apartment.

He passed through the living room, tossed his jacket and tie onto the sofa, and stepped out onto the balcony. The damp night air of June filled his lungs.

It had been three weeks since he returned from Macau.

The Aizawa-Somei team had returned last week as well, having secured evidence linking the Eastern Alliance to an investment scam scheme involving Macau’s integrated resorts. They were now coordinating efforts with the Macau police.

This incident redefined the Eastern Alliance—not as a domestic semi-criminal group but as an internationally recognized criminal organization.

However, the issue of Japanese citizens being trafficked was buried in the shadows.

Kagura had reported to Section Chief Takizaki that a human trafficking auction was being held on the fourth underground level of Macau’s ‘Invincible Castle’ and that the victims were likely sourced from Japan’s counterpart of the ‘Castle’.

Takizaki, his expression pained, had said, “We can’t act directly. Keep this to yourself for now.”

Kagura, unsurprised at their inability to intervene, replied flatly, “Understood.”

Macau’s ‘Invincible Castle’ dwarfed its Japanese counterpart in scale.

And these castles existed all over the world, churning out countless victims daily.

Kagura looked up at the sky from the balcony.

Most of the stars were drowned out by the city lights, but he knew they were still there, countless and chilling in their enormity.

Similarly, there were countless horrors hidden from the eyes of the average Japanese citizen.

Amidst all this, Kagura wondered if there was anything he could truly do.

―――Even so, I will accomplish whatever lies within my reach.

With this resolve, Kagura clouded his vinegar-soaked thoughts.

Kiriyama’s words pierced his chest like a stake.

"You’re ensnared by Zero, and Zero is ensnared by you. As long as you’re together, you’ll only grow weaker and more restricted."

―――...I’m making Zero weaker.

That was something he could not allow.

―――We’re not lovers who can simply be satisfied by each other’s presence.

Even as he told himself this, memories of their indulgent time together in Niigata crept into his mind. Were they not content in that moment, just the two of them at the inn?

“No. I can’t let myself be ensnared…”

There was a part of him that wanted to succumb to that sweet haze.

But he knew he had to suppress it.

The sound of a key turning in the front door caught his attention.

Now, Zero held the matching key with the identical strap.

Kagura returned to the living room from the balcony, leaving the window open but drawing the curtains closed.

Zero entered and walked directly toward him, standing face to face.

“You ignored my summons five times.”

Accused, Kagura replied, “I was busy.”

“You’re always busy.”

In truth, Kagura had been avoiding this day, putting it off as long as possible. But it was inevitable, and he had steeled himself to call Zero today.

“So, what’s going on with him?”

Zero’s question caught Kagura off guard; he assumed it was about Kiriyama.

“I heard you were bought by Li Azhar.”

Kagura blinked slightly in understanding.

It seemed that even though Enwu members had infiltrated Macau’s ‘Invincible Castle’, they only knew Li Azhar had purchased Kagura at the auction. They didn’t realize Li Azhar was acting as Kiriyama’s proxy.

―――In that case, it’s better to let him think Li Azhar owns me.

Mentioning Kiriyama would only provoke Zero unnecessarily.

“It was the whim of a casino king. He doesn’t seem interested in doing anything with me.”

“...Whims can be unpredictable. Who knows what he might demand in the future?”

Gripping Kagura’s shoulders, Zero peered into his face.

“If anything happens, you’ll tell me immediately, won’t you?”

―――...This isn’t good.

To hide the tremor in his eyes, Kagura grabbed the collar of Zero’s rider jacket.

He crushed his lips against Zero’s.

After a brief pause, Zero devoured Kagura’s lips in return, forcing his tongue into Kagura’s mouth.

Zero’s hot tongue swirled against Kagura’s, making his knees tremble.

When Zero finally pulled back, his tongue sliding out with a deliberate flick, his face was flushed red with a mix of anger and desire.

“I thought you weren’t going to do it with me anymore?”

Kagura hooked his foot behind Zero’s ankle and swept him to the floor.

Kagura pressed his body over the man lying on his back on the floor.

"Shut up."

This time, he inserted his tongue into Zero's mouth.

Though he intended to take control, his tongue was sucked, licked, and bitten. Before he realized it, a paralyzing sensation spread from his mouth through his entire body.

When he tried to lift his head, Zero refused to release his tongue.

Zero’s hands slipped under the hem of Kagura's shirt, which had been pulled free from his slacks, roaming over the bare skin of his back.

The burns on Kagura's neck and back had mostly faded into mottled discoloration, but the scars around his shoulder blades remained raised and keloid-like.

Zero's fingers paused on the taut scar tissue, tracing over it as their tongues pressed together.

"Mm... ah."

Kagura's body grew unbearably hot. He unfastened his belt and pushed down the front of his underwear, releasing the long, rigid length beneath.

Half-dazed, he reached out and tugged down Zero's leather pants and underwear. Their swollen, slick erections pressed against each other.

“Ah…”

The realization that they craved each other equally sent a sharp jolt through his mind.

They were connected.

The feelings Kagura had when he stopped Zero from pulling the trigger at the top floor of Macau’s ‘Invincible Castle’ mirrored what Zero must have felt for him.

―――...That’s exactly why we—

Zero's hand slid straight down Kagura's back, slipping into his slacks from behind. His fingers delved between Kagura’s tense buttcheeks, pressing into the trembling opening there.

“Ah… nn!”

The two erections, pressed tightly together, twitched and writhed violently.

Kagura could feel their desires intertwining, and as Zero bit down on his tongue, Kagura stripped off his slacks and underwear entirely. Wearing nothing below his waist but his socks, he knelt astride Zero’s abdomen.

As Zero withdrew his fingers from Kagura’s inner walls, the tip of Zero’s erection pressed insistently against the tight ring of flesh.

Despite being unprepared, Kagura leaned into the pressure, forcing himself downward.

Though he had tried to deny this, the overwhelming hunger for Zero remained. As they connected, Kagura was forced to confront just how deeply he desired him.

The tightening muscles within Kagura greedily clung to Zero, drawing a low groan from him.

"Hey, Jinya," Zero rasped.

Gripping Kagura’s jaw from below, Zero fixed him with a sharp, threatening gaze.

"You’ll only do this with me, right?"

It was true. No one but Zero could fulfill him this way—body and soul.

Kagura suppressed the overwhelming urge to voice these feelings, instead attempting to move his hips.

But whether it was due to their prolonged separation or the intense tightness of their connection, he couldn’t manage it.

As Kagura struggled, Zero soothed him with a kiss, then began moving his hips from below.

"Mm… ah—nng."

Sweet, almost confessional moans spilled from Kagura’s throat. It was unstoppable.

Their movements grew more frantic, their bodies pressing together as lips and flesh remained entwined.

Desperation, frustration, and a longing to stay like this forever melded together.

When Kagura climaxed, it wasn’t from ecstasy alone but from being overwhelmed by those emotions. Deep within, Zero followed, releasing with a force that seemed to echo Kagura’s feelings.

Even as they reached their peaks, neither stopped moving, their actions seamlessly transitioning into the next round.

The curtains swelled with the breeze.

From the slightly parted hem, a faint hint of rain blew onto the entwined pair on the floor.

***

Kagura stared at the darkness behind his closed eyelids.

He wanted to savor the weight of Zero’s arm draped over his abdomen a little longer. But he knew if he indulged, he might never move again.

Forcing himself, he opened his eyes.

The room was dim, and only the outline of Zero beside him was visible.

When he tried to slip out of bed, Zero grabbed his wrist.

In a groggy voice, Zero asked, “Where are you going?”

“To the convenience store. I’m getting a cola.”

“Okay. Get me one too.”

“Yeah, sure.”

Kagura dressed his body, still sticky with traces of Zero, and headed to the front door. After putting on his shoes, he hesitated for a few seconds but eventually forced himself to move.

Locking the door behind him, Kagura held the key in his hand and paused.

He stared down at it.

***

Rain fell lightly as Kagura stepped outside the apartment complex.

The night had yet to give way to dawn.

Walking under the lush canopy of cherry trees lining the Meguro River, Kagura clenched the key that was now empty of the keychain tightly in his hand, its weightless form pressing into his palm.
